Update: at Annual Conference, June 2-4, 2019, the North Texas Annual Conference ordained an LGBTQ+ person into ministry and passed a resolution (by 80% vote) that churches in our conference would aspire to conduct business as though the One Church Plan had passed at General Conference in February 2019. Let me simplify this: If you have a heartbeat, you are welcome here.
Also, we still have an important role to play in our community. Our neighborhood needs our church to continue to be a faithful and credible witness for Jesus Christ. We still have a mission field to serve. We still have neighbors who don’t have enough to eat; who are cold in winter and hot in summer; who need clothes and blankets and jackets; who need help with their yard or household projects. We still have neighbors who are sick, who are imprisoned, who are grieving the loss of a loved one. We still have neighbors in the depths of addiction or going through divorce or some other family dysfunction.
We still have neighbors who need to know they are loved, that their sins are forgiven, and they have a place in the kingdom of Heaven. We have neighbors who need to meet the God who already knows them and loves them.
We are still the church of Jesus Christ and we want you to be a part of it.”
