URGENT ANNOUNCEMENT: CHURCH SERVICES SUSPENDED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

UPDATED APRIL 1, 2020 2:30 PM

Dear Friends,

At the request of our Bishop, worship services and Sunday school here and at other area United Methodist Churches are suspended until further notice.  This is in order to assure public health in the wake of the corona virus (Covid-19).  Worship services will be offered on-line via Facebook Live at 10:45 a.m. each Sunday.

In addition, all mid-week classes, groups, and committee meetings are suspended.  Finally, these church buildings are closed to non-staff personnel until further notice.

As much as you are able, please continue to support the church with your financial gifts.  You may drop your check into the 24-hour drop box outside the office door, or give on-line using your credit/debit card through the givelify app on your cell phone.  Our finance chair, treasurer and pastor are discussing additional ways for you to give during this strange time.

We look forward to worshipping together in-person when this is finally over.  Until then, use every precaution to protect your health.

Rev. Frank Rahm and Rev. Dr. Nick McRae will continue to offer scripture readings and sermons, along with Rev. Debbie Chapman providing hymns and music, on Facebook live-stream at 10:45 AM every Sunday.

Like us on Facebook to be notified as soon as we go live on Sundays! Click HERE to be taken to our Facebook page.

Grace & peace,

Frank Rahm

Pastor

Upcoming Dates

A Special Place

There is something in the air at First United Methodist Church in Sachse, Texas. Something wonderful, and yet, hard to define. There’s a chill even on the hottest of days that raises goosebumps and makes the hairs on the arms stand on end. There is a warmth even on the coldest days that gives a feeling of assurance. You feel it most when you walk into our sanctuary. Every Sunday, we invite the Holy Spirit to be present in our worship time, though the Spirit of God is already there, and everywhere else on our campus every day. That’s what we are feeling: a renewed presence of the Spirit of the Lord, and the Spirit’s presence is renewing each of us!

VIDEO (Click here):   At it’s gathering June 2-4, 2019, the North Texas Annual Conference ordained an LGBTQ+ person into ministry and passed a resolution (by 80% vote) that churches in our conference would aspire to conduct business as though the One Church Plan had passed at General Conference in February 2019.  Rev. Frank Rahm offers some comments.

To our LGBTQ+ neighbors, family, friends, and those we hope to meet:

In light of recent media coverage , we feel the need to clarify to you that we believe that discrimination of ANY kind is incompatible with Christian teachings.
The First United Methodist Church of Sachse is here for you.
Together —  not separated — we are The Church.

Invitation & Mission

The First United Methodist Church of Sachse exists to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.  You are invited to join us in this mission.  Sometimes, that mission is simply worship.  Other times, it’s getting involved in the community:  mentoring children, our community garden, wheelchair ramp builds, and much more.  We do our prayerful best to love God and to love our neighbor.  You are invited.  Yes, we know.  We said that already.  But, it’s true.  You are invited to be a part of this church no matter who you are.  We welcome all people, all the time, without regard to age, race, gender, sexuality, income level, education level.  Love people?  Love God?  Don’t know the answer to those questions, but you’re looking for a place to learn more and grow?  This might be just the place for you!
